The Mad Dash Makeup Routine

14 April, 2017 The Mad Dash Makeup Routine

Hey guys – it’s me, the always-disappearing beauty blogger. Today I thought I’d share my daily makeup routine; it’s my go-to look when I can’t be bothered to do my makeup before I leave the house, and so need to get a full face on at work (or on the train) as quickly as possible.

Makeup Routine

I start with the Skinfix Brightening Eye Cream* (£12.99) and Superdrug Vitamin E Serum (£3.99) at home. The eye cream is lightweight, cooling and conveniently comes in a tube. I received this as a PR sample recently and am really impressed. The Superdrug serum is an old favourite and SO good for hydrating my skin without feeling sticky or heavy.

When I’m in the work loos/at my desk/on the train I’ll slap on the Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer (£38), a really fab tinted cream that weirdly smells of salami  but does such a good job of neutralising redness, giving my skin a boost of warmth, and covering very minor imperfections. After that, I pop the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Light Medium ($25) on, as it’s the most full-coverage concealer I’ve ever tried, and works on under-eye bags and spots in just a few swipes.

To set everything, I’m loving the Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder in Soft Sand (£28) at the moment; it was a hand-me-down from my mum who’s not such a fan of powders, but as I’m a walking grease ball she knew I’d put it to good use. As I’m in a rush, I don’t bother priming my eyelids, and just pop extra concealer on and then set with the powder.

For brows, I brush against the roots of my brows, fill in, then brush and fill the opposite way with the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Filling Pencil (£8) to create a more natural look. I have very awkward, thin brows, so the best way to tame them and make them look vaguely normal is to add volume and shape without heavy gels or waxes.

I typically forgo bronzer and contour in favour of a coral blush, and my current fave is the MAC Sheertone Blush in Peaches (£19.50). This shade was recommended by the gorgeous Amy Farquhar and it’s the most perfect, just-pinched colour in my collection. For the eyes, I apply light layers of Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Cocoa Bear (£6) to the crease, making sure I don’t make it look like I’ve given myself a black eye in the process. It’s a lovely warm brown and complements the MAC blusher really well.

I’ve accepted the fact that I will never look normal without a thick winged liner, so a cat eye courtesy of the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (£14.50) is an everyday staple. It instantly wakes me up and makes the whole look seem far more put-together and polished than it actually is. Lastly in my makeup routine, four or five coats of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (£5.95) on my top and bottom lashes sends me on my way – all that’s left is a slick of NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien (£20) for a bit of glossy colour and dimension for the lips.
