28 February, 2017 3 Affordable NYX Lipsticks I Can’t Stop Wearing
NYX is one of my favourite affordable makeup brands, but for some reason I don’t share the love for them on Instagram or on my blog. Today, I thought I’d do a quick post on three of my favourite NYX lipsticks, that all come under the rosy-mauve-pink-brown-nude umbrella. It’s a trend that will probs never die, and I’m fully OK with it!
FYI: I took the below swatches of these three NYX lipsticks in natural daylight, and I’ve edited the pics a little so they’re more cool-toned.
My first pick is the NYX Matte Lipstick in Honeymoon (£6.50), a cool creamy mauve with a thick, opaque formula that seems to glide on easily while still packing a proper pigment punch.
I love that this leans slightly grey in tone, and it’s the sort of colour that will look very grungy on pale skin, and more bright and pink on olive to deep complexions. I typically pair this with MAC’s Whirl lipliner.
Second is NYX Butter Lipstick in Root Beer Float (£5.50), a beautiful warm rosy pink with a cream formula that makes dry, cracked lips look beautifully glossy and plump.
I love this when I have a tan, although it’s still really nice on my currently ghost-pale skin. It’s great paired with MAC Spice liner for added warmth, or Hover to emphasise the brown tones.
My last pick is the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Rome (£6.50), a terracotta pink nude in a whipped, silky formula I just can’t get enough of at the moment. My sister bought this for me a couple of months ago, and it’s such a fantastic shade if you want something deep and statement-like, without going full glam.
The formula is light and airy but dries down matte, making it a lovely option if you adore liquid lipsticks but you can’t handle how drying they are. I wore this last weekend with MAC Soar liner and got so many compliments, and on dark skin tones this would be an incredible everyday colour.
