Beauty Favourites

31 August, 2016 July + August Beauty Favourites 2016

Greetings one and all. I’m back from my holiday with a bumper edition of July and August beauty favourites. It’s been an amazing summer and I’ve discovered some fab products, including two gorgeous perfumes and a £1 body wash that is absolutely divine. Keep scrolling for lots of beauty favourites and let me know which of these you’ve tried!

Beauty Favourites

Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay Cologne (£86)

I’ve always wanted to try Blackberry & Bay, and en route to Israel I picked this up in the airport. As it was duty free I paid under £70 which was pretty fab, and the scent is strong enough to only require 2-3 spritzes. It’s a woody, fruity scent that feels so summery and fresh, and as I wore this throughout the holiday, every time I now spray it I’m whisked back to the beach. Heavenly.

Atelier Cologne Bergamote Soleil Eau de Parfum* (£49.50)

Another new fragrance fave is this little beauty from Atelier Cologne. This luxury brand sent me a 30ml size of Bergamote Soleil, an intense, heady citrus scent, that is so unique and different to other perfumes in my collection. With notes of bergamot, jasmine, cardamom, vetiver and oak moss, it’s perfect for both men and women, and lingers on the skin for hours after application. It’s SUPER pricey, so if you’re interested I’d recommend this smaller size – it’s great for travel.

NARS Contour Blush in Paloma (£30)

This gorgeous bronzer-contour powder is normally too dark for me, but now that I’m pretty tanned from two weeks in the sun, it’s perfect. The highlight shade mattifies and brightens and the bronzer is a fab neutral-toned shade with absolutely no shimmer. I think I prefer it to Benefit’s Hoola as a multi-purpose bronzing powder, and it’s great for popping in your handbag too.

The Body Shop Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF50 PA++++* (£16)

With all that baking in the sunshine I needed a proper SPF, and this light-as-air one from The Body Shop did a fab job. My face is a little lighter  than my body because I used SPF30 everywhere else, but in terms of protecting my skin against UV rays, ageing etc, it’s awesome. The essence formula makes this incredibly thin and watery, and it absorbs instantly. If you’re after a high-quality SPF that is gentle and light enough for even the oiliest of skins, you’ll love this. Also, my boyfriend used this and didn’t mind it, which is always good if you’re going away with your other half and are happy to share sun protection.

Imperial Leather Mango and Papaya Shower Cream (£1)

I always ignore those ‘special offer’ sections in Boots, but I love anything with mango, and the scent is so lovely I’m shocked it’s only a quid! It’s a very summery scent and perfect for mornings, and I’ve stocked up on a few more versions for the winter months.

Sleek Solstice Highlighter Palette (£9.99)

It took me an age to buy this palette, but now I have, I just can’t get enough. I’ll be posting a full review on some new highlighter faves soon, but in the meantime, let me just say that this is THE best highlighter palette currently on the highstreet, and I’m sure I’ll be including this in many monthly beauty favourites in the future. With lavender, champagne, opal and yellow gold options, it’s got everything you need to create both bold and natural looks. Plus, the cream shade makes for a lovely daytime eyeshadow, and the packaging is super luxe.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (£7.99)

You’re probably all bored of me rambling about this mascara, but I’ll never stop. Soz. I can easily apply two coats of this waiting for the train while holding a coffee in one hand, and it still makes my lashes look incredible. It’s volumizing, lengthening, super deep, and looks good on everyone. I like to pair it with the L’Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara (£7.99) on top for a final spider lash look, as I’m all about that clump.

Tom Ford Lip Colour in Indian Rose (£39)

I cannot explain the joy I felt when I purchased this lipstick in the airport coming home from Israel. It’s a stunning mauve-pink with a creamy formula and just a hint of sheen, and although it’s incredibly similar to a lot of other lipsticks I own, something about the packaging and comfortable texture got me handing over my $48 a lot quicker than the shopping assistant expected. I believe my exact words were ‘dear lord it’s gorgeous’.

Avene Cleanance MAT Mattifying Emulsion (£12)

Last up is this old favourite. A mattifying moisturiser that works as a primer in a pinch, this lovely lotion absorbs really quickly and controls oil throughout the day without drying out my skin. I prefer a richer product in the winter but for summertime, this is fantastic – especially before applying glam makeup on a night out.

So that was my mammoth, enormous, big bundle of beauty favourites. What have you been loving this month? Get sharing below!
