Current Fave Face Masks

10 August, 2016 5 Current Fave Face Masks (and What I Use Them For)

Here are a my 5 current fave face masks – the go-to treatments that keep my skin in check. I have SO many face masks in my bathroom and dressing table drawers, and it occasionally gets to the point that I’m overwhelmed by all the products I have, and end up not using anything. I know, hard life. However, in an attempt to streamline my stash I’ve been picking out the cream of the crop and making sure I use them in a semi-regular rotation. They’re all from brands I love and trust, and are (reasonably) priced. Enjoy!

Current Fave Face Masks

ExfoliatingMerumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel

When I want to slough away dead skin and give my complexion a weekend re-jig, this is the mask I use. It’s a clear gel that I apply all over my skin, leave on for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse away with a warm flannel. With pomegranate enzymes and glycolic acid, plus hyaluronic to moisturise, it’s a lovely treatment that creates instant results – smaller-looking pores, minimised dehydration lines and flushed, healthy cheeks – without creating a burning sensation typically found in peels.

Skin-ClearingAesop Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Masque

If hormonal breakouts are the bane of your life, you’re going to love this stuff. It’s a clay-based mask that draws out impurities without leaving my skin feeling tight and dry. It’s great for applying directly to a spot or cluster of blemishes (sexy), and can also be applied in a thin layer across your face, neck and decolletage. I love using this after a deep cleanse when I want to rid my skin of blackheads and under-the-skin lurkers, and find it to be pretty much the only mask that creates a noticeable difference when the spots attack.

BrighteningREN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

For the ultimate fast-fix solution, I can’t recommend the following enough. This vitamin C-packed treatment is designed to eat away at dead, dull skin, and reveal brighter and more radiant skin underneath. When I haven’t been sleeping well, fatigue shows immediately in my complexion, and this is a great little tube to have to hand when I want to fake an 8 hour sleep-induced glow. Simply apply to dry skin, massage for 20 seconds, then add water to turn the gritty paste-like formula into an emulsified lotion. Then, leave on the skin for a minute, and rinse or muslin away. So simple.

Smoothing and SofteningAurelia Refine & Polish Miracle Balm

This little wonder didn’t rock my world at first, but after adapting the way I apply it, I’m really impressed. This exfoliant offers chemical and physical benefits, by manually removing dead skin while also eating away at the deeper layers, with the help of sugar maple sap, baobab and hibiscus. It also contains Aurelia’s signature blend of herbal and fruit extracts, which is just so gorgeous and pampering. I like to apply this in a thick, even layer on damp skin, and leave for 5 minutes. It feels warm (but never uncomfortable), and I instantly notice my skin looking and feeling smoother and softer. To remove, simply add water and allow the product to emulsify, then either rinse off or combine with a flannel for more manual exfoliation.

Intense NourishmentSoap & Glory Speed Plump All-Day Super Moisture Marvel

When I want ALL the moisture, I’ve been reaching for this lovely mask from Soap & Glory. It has a divine, fruity scent, and feels like a lighter version of the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. I can easily use this a few minutes before bed and it won’t feel sticky or heavy, and by morning it’s absorbed completely. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re after lots of hydration without that horrible cloying feeling, and I’ll be bringing this with me on holiday for in-flight pampering and when my I’ve spent too long in the sun.
