03 May, 2016 April Beauty Favourites 2016
Welcome to another monthly favourites – this time, it’s my April Beauty Favourites 2016. I know, massive surprise there.
It always amuses me how much can change in a month. Last month was all about testing out a HUGE amount of product, and being slightly experimental with the makeup and skincare in my stash. In the last 30 days, I’ve found myself a new job (whoop), and have also been interning in the beauty section of one of my favourite weekly mags – not sure if I’m allowed to say which one though. Anyway, I’ve been loving the early starts, and have opted for more subtle, on-the-go makeup looks that can be easily touched-up on the tube or at my desk. I’ll be sharing an updated ‘office makeup look’ post in the coming weeks, along with some more work-appropriate beauty essentials.
I hope you enjoy my April Beauty Favourites 2016 – comment below with links to your favourites, I’d love to have a read!
KORRES Santorini Vine Shower Gel (£8) – this creamy, refreshing shower gel has been a lifesaver for quick AM showers. The fruity scent is divine, and it lingers on the skin without ever becoming cloying or heavy. I’m off to Mykonos in June, so I’ll be picking up loads of back-up bottles in the pharmacy I found on my last trip.
Institut Karite Paris Almond and Honey Shea Hand Cream* (£7) – you probably know I’m a sucker for packaging, and this delightful little tube has been looking so pretty on my dressing table. The hand cream is rich and balmy, and small enough to slip into my makeup bag when I’m going out.
VOYA Palmarosa Balm* (£53) – I was recently gifted this gorgeous serum by a lovely PR, and considering I’d never heard of the brand before, I’m seriously impressed. VOYA is an Irish brand, specialising in seaweed-based skincare. Sounds weird, does amazing things for the skin. This particular serum is packed with sea heather, vanilla, passion flower and camellia oil, and is like a drink of water for my complexion. It’s pricey, but the luxe ingredients, packaging and experience – I tried it with a facial roller and OMG – makes this all worth it.
KIKO Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows (£6.90) – I’ve long loved these creamy shadow sticks for how affordable and long-lasting (duh) they are. Last week I picked up two new shades – 05 Rosy Brown and 38 Golden Taupe – and I haven’t used anything else! Rosy Brown is an identical dupe to the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock, and Golden Taupe is a minky, cool-toned brown with gold shimmer.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup SPF10 in Desert Beige (£30) – I mentioned this in last month’s favourites, and it’s still going strong. Estee Lauder Double Wear is the best base I’ve ever tried, and a full review is coming this month. I promise!
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow (£49) – I’ll always love Charlotte Tilbury products, and although I didn’t get on with her Magic Foundation (see my review here), this bronzing and highlighting duo is still a firm favourite. Both shades are perfect for daytime and evening looks, and the handy palette is perfect for travel, and popping in your clutch on nights out. For a more in-depth review, click here!
Rimmel Brow This Way Styling Gel in Blonde (£3.99) – I’ve done it. I’ve found THE perfect brow gel for light brows. If you’re a blonde, and prefer a more cool-toned brow, this is bloody marvellous. It’s pigmented, a lovely ash-based pale brown, and it glides on without skipping or smudging. Wear alone or on top of your pencil for groomed, subtle brows that don’t draw too much attention, but keep things looking pretty and polished.
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Nude Collection Lipstick by Kate in Nude 45 (£5.49) – my lovely pal Amy Farquhar showed me this on our recent Brighton trip, and I picked it up soon after. It’s a lovely mauve-based nude, with a lightweight, sheer finish and a comfortable texture. It looks great over a darker liner, or applied lightly for a natural, everyday look.
