Blonde Hair Saviours: PROVOKE, Ojon and More!

Blonde Hair Saviours

27 April, 2016 Blonde Hair Saviours: PROVOKE, Ojon and More!

I’ve been bleaching my hair for 10 years, and in that time, I’ve used a LOT of products to keep it in tip top condition. Whilst I don’t heat style, or even occasionally blow dry it for that matter, my hair still suffers damage, due to all the peroxide and colour I’ve added over the years. I’ve compiled a few of my favourite products that keep my blonde hair looking glossy, fresh, and nourished. As always, let me know what products you use on your coloured, highlighted or damaged hair, in the comments below.

Blonde Hair Saviours

For Brightening and Cooling Blonde Tones

First up is a duo from the awesome, blonde-focused brand PRO:VOKE. Their PRO:VOKE Touch of Silver Brightening Shampoo (£3.19) and PRO:VOKE Touch of Silver Intensive Conditioner (£3.19) are violet-toned products that effectively counteract brassy, yellow tones that occur in naturally dark hair. I have a very warm, almost auburn natural colour, so any bleach I use can often turn a little orange when not maintained properly.

This shampoo and conditioner pairing help to neutralise warmth, add vibrancy and shine, and lift my colour to a creamier, more white-based blonde. PRO:VOKE products are super cheap, easy to purchase from Boots, and almost always on offer. What more could you ask for?

For Cleansing and Lifting Your Natural Colour

A brand I recently discovered, that is kind of amazing for blonde and light-coloured hair, is KC Professional. This Finnish brand offers solutions for coloured hair in all shades of the rainbow, with shampoos and masks to suit both super dark, and super pale colours. They recently sent me their KC Professional Color Mask Shampoo in Beige* (£12), a tinted cleanser that reduces yellow tones in pale brown shades, and their KC Professional Color Mask in Vanilla* (£13.95), a cool-toned conditioner that brightens and cools. Both products are nourishing, lightweight and non-depositing, which means they don’t leave a pigment residue on the scalp or skin.

For Nourishing and Moisturising

To keep my mid-lengths and ends feeling smooth and conditioned, I like to use a hair oil. I was recently gifted the Ojon Rare Blend Oil Total Hair Therapy* (£30) at a PR hair event, and have been obsessed ever since. It’s rich, easily absorbed, and does a fantastic job of locking in moisture without weighing my hair down.

I’ve been using this once a week (usually on the weekend) as part of a deep-conditioning routine, where I’ll shampoo and condition as normal, and then apply to damp hair, and allow to soak in overnight. This helps to protect my bleached highlights whilst still maintaining the health of my natural colour underneath. Another bonus – it smells absolutely gorgeous!

My last blonde hair saviour is the Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Dry Oil Micromist (£21.95). Although I don’t use heat tools, and usually brush and then towel-dry my hair, it can still become split and unruly if I don’t use an oil spray. This fine, lightweight conditioner is great for detangling knots, taming flyaways, and, on the rare occasion I’ll have it blowdried in the salon, it’s the perfect product to protect against intense heat.

If you are a regular bleacher and are constantly juggling between maintaining your colour and wanting to keep your natural hair healthy and manageable, I’d definitely recommend investing in some intensive nourishing products. Let me know your favourite treatments and toners in the comments below, and don’t forget to share if you love any of the same products as me!

Happy Hump Day!
