Brightening Serums: No7, Botanics and Antipodes

Brightening Serums

08 April, 2016 Brightening Serums: No7, Botanics and Antipodes

Around this time of year, many of us start to think about pairing back our makeup routine, and opting for lighter, sheerer bases as we move into the summer months. To help give skin a more luminous, radiant and healthy appearance, I’ve been reaching for brightening serums, that claim to revitalise my complexion and give my skin a much-needed glow.

Brightening Serums

In the mornings, I like to apply a few drops of the Antipodes Apostle Skin Brightening and Tone Correcting Serum* (£37.75). This brightening booster contains kiwi enzymes, red grape extract, Waiwera mineral water base, reishi mushroom, aloe vera, mamaku black fern, raspberry oil, essential oils of green apple, and cardamom. Phew! It has a delicious, berry-like scent, with a watery consistency that seems to melt into the skin.

Upon application, my skin feels plump and hydrated, and it definitely looks healthier and more vibrant once I’ve applied moisturiser, base and other makeup.

The serum I’ve been incorporating into my evening skincare routine, is the No7 Beautiful Skin Overnight Radiance Boost (£14). Combining caffeine, Vitamin C, and fruit acids to slough away dead skin, this beautiful lotion is almost like a more soothing version of Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. It offers the same chemical exfoliation, but in a more gentle, and sensitive skin-friendly way.

I apply this after a hydrating serum or essence, and before my main moisturisers and oils. It’s a great sandwiching product, and because of the silky texture, it doesn’t bunch up under heavier products.

Last up is the Botanics Radiant Youth Super Serum (£9.99), a multi-purpose serum that harnesses the power of ginkgo to reduce signs of ageing, create a more bouncy and plump appearance, and protect the skin against free radicals and pollutants. I like to use this both under moisturiser, and mixed with my tinted moisturiser for a more luminous look.

When I’m hormonal (and my skin is showing it), I notice how much calmer my skin looks and feels.

Which brightening serums have you been loving lately? Share your recommendations below, and let me know if you’ve tried any of my picks!

Happy Friday!

Brightening products are meant to be great for acne scars, I think I’ll try the cheapest first and see how my skin reacts.
