01 April, 2016 Brighton Adventures: People, Places and Things
This time two weeks ago, I was heading off to beautiful Brighton. It was a fabulous trip, filled with lots of food, drinking, and plenty of chat about lipstick, foundation and Youtube faves. Basically, it was my perfect weekend. I started my journey in Essex, where I met up with Sam from Beautifie, and Polly from Polly’s Pocket Book. We then all crammed our cases and toiletry bags into Polly’s car, and sped off to Brighton to check into our delightful Airbnb, where we met Amy from Amy Farquhar, and Laura from Lola and Behold.
I’ve been visiting Brighton for years, and it was such a great feeling to be back. Our Airbnb was right on the seafront in Kemptown, and the decor basically defined Instagram goals. I’ve now decided to decorate my entire home in white fur.
We spent our first night eating a divine curry (thanks Polly), drinking copious amounts of wine, and playing Cards Against Humanity. The next morning we were up bright and early for Laura’s brilliant #BtonBlogMeet – and the reason we all decided to make a weekend of it.
Normally I’m the friend with the biggest beauty collection on holidays, but on this occasion, I had met my match(es). We all spent ages perusing the various makeup stocks, and as usual, I finished last. I do like to take my time.
The meetup was for Brighton bloggers and writers from the local area, and Laura pulled out all the stops to provide a lovely day for everyone.
Some of the brand highlights included Pure Potions, who had a stand devoted to their skin-healing products,Minty Coco, who’ve made oil-pulling seem appealing (I’ve recently tested it out and kind of love it), Green People, who provided a gorgeously zingy facial scrub in our goody bags, and Bee Good, who gave everyone a sample of their new brightening eye cream. After the event, we headed off for more food, wine and blogger chat, and then back to the Airbnb for even more snacks and gossip. You can sense a theme here.
Sunday was all about shopping, and mooching around in the Lanes.
We spotted some gorgeous bakeries, including the beautiful Catwalk Cakes, where we spent a while consuming a huge amount of chocolatey goodness, and going through all of our purchases. In Space NK, I convinced Amy to buy the amazing Sarah Chapman Skinesis Rapid Radiance Cleanse (review here), Sam and I bought back-ups of our beloved Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm (review here), and Polly discovered the wonder product that is Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (review here).
After that, we all headed to The Body Shop, where I found out that my holy grail Vitamin E Moisture Serum had been discontinued! I am still bereft, and would love to know your thoughts below if you feel the same.
All of us got colour matched at the Estee Lauder counter in Boots for Double Wear (Desert Beige is a great match for me), and I picked up a bottle straight away. Polly and Sam always rave about it, and I’m loving it so far. Expect a full review soon!
Once we were all shopped out, we headed to the beach, ate some chips, and took some snaps.
One of my blog-related goals this year was to put myself out there more and meet other bloggers, and I’m so glad I went on the trip. It was so great to meet like-minded girls who share my love of beauty and writing, and I’m desperate to visit Brighton again!
Big thanks to Laura once again for arranging a gorgeous event – if you fancy attending Brighton-based events in the future, pop your details on this Google Doc to stay up to date!
