Drugstore Mascaras: My Recommendations

Drugstore Mascaras

18 March, 2016 Drugstore Mascaras: My Recommendations

I always say that drugstore mascaras can easily compete with high-end, luxury offerings.

In recent years, highstreet brands have been creating some fabulous formulas and wands to suit each and every preference known to (wo)man. Whether you like a fluffy, natural brush, or spiky plastic bristles, there’s something for everyone. Here are five drugstore mascaras that cost under £10, and create absolutely gorgeous looks.

Drugstore Mascaras

Max Factor Masterpiece MAX Mascara (£9.99) – this is my all-time favourite mascara from Max Factor, and one that definitely doesn’t get enough love. With a thin brush base and tiny plastic bristles, this hugs your lashes and creates a defined, elongated effect. It’s not the best for curling lashes, but if you like definition and volume on both top and bottom lashes, you’ll love this.

L’oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Feline Mascara (£9.99) – for super inky-black lashes that stay deep and mysterious all day, this cat-eye creator will be perfect. The brush scoops and bends lashes to help extend a feline flick, meaning it works perfectly with a liquid liner. The formula is incredibly glossy and smooth, and it doesn’t crisp up on lashes, no matter how many coats you apply.

L’oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Punky Mascara (£8.99) – I have always been a fan of the false-lash effect, and this oddly-named mascara creates the most MASSIVE lashes. Lashes look spiky, thick, voluminous and incredibly long. I can only wear this on nights out, as it’s that dramatic. If you like a clump, you need to buy this!

Maybelline Push Up Drama Mascara Very Black (£7.99) – although the name of this mascara suggests it’s suitable for more dramatic looks, this is actually the most natural of the bunch. The rubber wand separates lashes, combs them evenly, and extends the length – without a clump in site. I find this also works well on bottom lashes, if you like that 60s, Twiggy-esque look that instantly widens eyes.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara (£7.99) – I saved the best until last: this mascara does it all! It curls, lengthens, thickens the base of lashes for a full flutter, and the colour is SO black and deep. I wear this in some form every single day, and it coats the lashes in just a few swipes. I always recommend this to friends, and their waterproof formula is great too.

Let me know which drugstore mascaras you love from my picks, and don’t forget to share your recommendations below!
