25 February, 2016 MOA Magic Organic Apothecary: My First Impressions

From their simple, chic packaging to their unique blends of natural oils and herbal extracts, testing out MOA Magic Organic Apothecary has been a rather glorious experience.

I received two goodies from their lovely PR team – the Aphrodite Facial Oil* (£20) and the Fortifying Green Bath Potion* (£27.50), and I’ve been loving them so far. Both products contain their hero herb yarrow, a plant known for its healing and restorative properties. It’s always impressive when brands maintain a strong narrative in their products, and feature ingredients that have been chosen with love and care for their proven skin-saving abilities. For generations, yarrow has been used to tend to ailments and heal sickness, and as MOA Magic Organic Apothecary has created an identity based around ancient techniques and practises, yarrow is a great fit.

Back to the MOA Magic Organic Apothecary products – what do they do, and why do I like them?

The Aphrodite Facial Oil is a radiance-boosting, deeply nourishing oil that is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and natural extracts to enhance your natural glow. Key players include rosehip oil (hydration-boosting, Vitamins A and C, high levels of fatty acids), Damask rose essential oil (skin-calming, reduces redness and prevents blemish flare-ups) and yarrow, rose geranium and marshmallow. The result is a light and fragrant oil that absorbs into the skin like a dream, that’s great to use as part of a lymph-draining facial massage.

My advice would be to use the oil before bed: cleanse skin thoroughly, apply eye cream and a water-based serum (such as the Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum), and then massage three drops into the skin, warming it in the palms beforehand. It creates a silky veil of moisture that absorbs overnight, with no greasy residue or film in the morning. I’m really impressed with this, and the beautiful packaging makes it a pleasure to keep on my bedside table!

The second product the MOA Magic Organic Apothecary team sent me was the Fortifying Green Bath Potion. It’s possibly the best antidote to the winter blues I’ve ever tried, and I can’t stop using it! Fennel, peppermint, fir and sweet birch create a gorgeous, heady scent that immediately enlivens the spirits – it’s the healthiest hangover cure I know of, and a great little remedy after a tiring workout.

The natural oils and herbal extracts breathe life back into your body, and again, the packaging is stunning – dark green glass makes me wish I was a witch with a cauldron. There’s not much else like this that I’ve found as visually and sensorially appealing, and I’d definitely recommend you giving this a go if you love taking baths, but need something a little more energy-boosting than your typical lavender oils and bath bombs.

Let me know if you’ve tried any other MOA Magic Organic Apothecary products – I’d love to know what else I should test out! Share your thoughts, questions and recommendations below!

These sound lovely! I need to smell the bath potion! I have their balm when it was included in a gift with purchase but I haven’t tried it yet as I have a few things I want to finish but I might just open it tonight!
