My Everyday Office Essentials

Office Essentials

18 September, 2015 My Everyday Office Essentials

Weekdays, in all honesty, can be a bloody nightmare. The commute, the queueing, the spilling of coffee down your favourite white shirt – it’s happened to the best of us. At work, I like to keep a stash of products and office essentials at my desk, to help me feel organised and look reasonably presentable.

Office Essentials

The one thing I cannot live without at work is the Rifle Paper Co. Paper Crown To-Do Desktop Notepad (£7.50 here). Having a checklist is the only way I manage to stay sane at work, as I’m naturally scatter-brained and rely on visual prompts and aids to keep me on track. This gorgeous notepad from Rifle Paper Co. has a lovely design and enough room for my daily targets, and there’s nothing more satisfying than crossing out a project once it’s completed! I’ve started using them at home with blog post planning too, and it’s been super helpful.

Along with diligent list-making, a daily essential that I feel lost without is my trusty Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Powder (£12 here). I can get shiny to the point of embarrassment, so when the heating comes on, out pops this mattifying, oil-blotting pan of goodness. It doesn’t sit on top of makeup, but rather meshes with my base and restores my makeup to its original glory. I use this with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and would absolutely recommend this if you’re prone to oiliness and require multiple touch-ups throughout the day.

A fresh, fruity scent that’s always a pleasure to wear is Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier Fresh Fragrant Water Spray (£14.45 here). It’s light enough so that it doesn’t disturb your colleagues, but it still stays on the skin for a good 3-5 hours before it needs topping up. If you’re into fig-based scents with a hint of sweetness, you’ll really like this.

I’m constantly raving about the Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Blondie Pink (£20 here). It’s the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade, with a lovely combination of brown, mauve, beige and pink tones. It’s easy to apply midday or for touch-ups, and the creamy formula is seriously hydrating and comfortable on the lips. If the AC is on at full blast, a slick of the Organic Pharmacy Antioxidant Lip Balm (£12 here) helps to smooth over any dry patches and plump up my lips. It makes a great base for lipstick too!

Bleak office lighting isn’t too flattering on my skin, and early starts often mean my under-eye bags are particularly prominent. I have a couple of concealers in my rotation, but the Clarins Instant Concealer (£21.50 here). It’s incredibly pigmented, with a lovely yellow-peach tone that neutralizes blemishes, redness and discolouration. The small tube is the perfect size for my makeup bag and it can be easily applied with fingers – perfect if I need to touch up and don’t have extra brushes to hand.

The temperature in my office varies from Arctic to the Sahara at various points throughout the day, and my hands really suffer – they’re dry, scaly and just not that pretty. A compact cuticle oil pen, like the Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab (£6.95 here) is great for conditioning my nails without any mess or glass packaging, and the gel-based formula means you can still type and write without slippery oil spilling over your desk. This Sally Hansen oil is so affordable compared to some I’ve tried, and the handy pen applicator makes this so easy to use!

Last up is a beautiful blush/highlighter hybrid – the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion (£28 here). Whenever I occasionally make plans after work and am reapplying some makeup, I’ve noticed that the first product to be eaten up by my oily skin is blusher. It makes you look perky, healthy and pulled together, so having a pretty peach colour (with just a hint of shimmer) makes all the difference. It’s a gorgeous colour that goes with any makeup look, and the handy mirror means I can pop this onto the apples of my cheeks straight from my desk.
