NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser

24 August, 2015 NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

There’s a new everyday base in my life, and for once (thank the dewy-skin gods) it’s not a foundation, BB or CC Cream that mattifies my skin to within an inch of its life. The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (£29 here) is a lightweight, skin-brightening tint that blurs over pores and fine lines, along with reducing redness and giving my skin a slight sheen that I am more than happy to work with. I typically love a matte, shine-free foundation, but recently my complexion has been a little flaky and irritated – meaning that I need more hydration and ‘slip’ in my base than usual.

Lisa Eldridge recommended this tinted moisturizer in a recent tutorial, and her model’s skin looked so flawless and healthy that I had to test it out during a Space NK trip with my mum. This sheer, velvety cream blends evenly, offers decent coverage, and can be worked into the skin so easily that it looks virtually undetectable. It’s oil-free, so it won’t clog pores or kick up any unwanted excess sebum, and the SPF30 means that you’re decently protected from damaging UV rays.

For me, a balance of healthy, three-dimensional skin that doesn’t look like it’s been splashed with oil is hard to maintain. I typically reach for a hard-working, mattifying and smoothing primer that will create the perfect canvas, and apply an even more mattifying foundation on top to seal everything in place. This often leads to a caky-looking complexion that can feel uncomfortable and dry, and totally lacking in any sort of natural, flushed glow. By combining a mattifying primer with a more hydrating foundation, you get the best of both worlds – oil control and a luminous finish.

I love wearing this to work applied on top of one of my favourite Loreal primers, and I find that this lasts on my skin for around six hours. It’s super easy to build up the coverage and can be easily re-applied with a Beauty Blender or buffing brush.

On a day to day basis, this is wonderful – although when I need a heavy base that will lasts all night, I’ll probably be reaching for one of my traditionally matte foundations. It’s hard to shake the habit!
