21 August, 2015 Introducing Accessorize Beauty
As much as I like my minimal, chic packaging, there’s something about a pink and glittery palette that brings out the inner girly-girl in me. Accessorize have relaunched their beauty line with an insanely large selection of cheek, lip and eye products, along with some lovely gifting ideas, and I for one am extremely happy about it.
I was invited to the launch back in July by one of my best pals Ilana, who works for the Accessorize press team. The Covent Garden cafe that they hosted the event in was decked in pink and rose gold, and from wall to wall there were sweetshop jars and bottles crammed with all of their new products: to say I was ecstatic would be an understatement.
I dug right in and started swatching, testing and applying the plethora of products – the lipsticks and glosses were particularly gorgeous, and it helped that the whole team had their favourite shades on so you could easily imagine how they’d suit your skin tone.
As I’ve had the chance to try out the entire collection over the last few weeks, I thought I’d tell you about some of my favourite products, and the ones I’ve been reaching for on a regular basis.
First up, the Chubby Lips Lipsticks in Pink (a muted cool-toned pink) and Red (a vibrant orange red). Gorgeous, long-lasting pigmentation and a comfortable formula that lasts on my lips for 2-4 hours without the need to reapply. They leave a slight stain, which looks very pretty and effortless if you keep the layers light and smooth. I keep the pink shade in my desk at work for touch-ups, and it feels lovely and hydrating if my lips are feeling a little dry. Other lip products I’ve enjoyed from the line include the Gem Lips Lipstick in Beige, the Light Me Up Lipgloss in Berry, and the Retro Lip Duo in Red.
The Magic Lashes Mascara is the stand-out product of the launch for me; with three settings to increase volume and drama, it’s a hi-tech offering with a seriously low price tag, that offers intense, inky-black pigmentation and a smooth, malleable formula. If you’re wearing this at school or college and don’t fancy a lot of length, keep it on the most natural setting, but if you’re a false-lash lover like me, keep twisting until you reach the desired effect.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the Prime Time Primer amongst the glitter and gloss, and Accessorize have clearly kept current trades and standards in mind when creating this collection. I use primers every day without fail, and to introduce one to the teen markets with the added benefits of soothing Vitamin E is great. The formula is silky, easily blended and creates a dewy glow without any sparkle, and contains the smoothing, pore-blurring CYCLOPENTASILOXANE (read about why I love this wonder ingredient here). It’s great for normal-combination skin, and reasonably priced at £9 for 30ml.
My last Accessorize favourite is their Make Me Blush Blusher in Berry. The shade is the perfect muted mauve with a hint of golden shimmer, and it’s great with a tan as an alternative to peaches and pinks. I’ve been wearing this instead of my usual Tarte Exposed, and I think I actually prefer Accessorize’s offering!
I’d definitely recommend checking out their eyeshadow and brow palettes, extensive collection of nail polishes (Misty is my favourite), and cream eyeshadows along with the above . Basically, it’s all rather lovely.
