27 July, 2015 Making It Up For 365 Days – Thank You!
Yesterday, it was Making It Up‘s birthday.
I genuinely cannot believe how quickly time has flown by in the last year. Blogging was always a pipe dream; something I felt too shy to do, and an experience I didn’t think I could succeed in.
In the last 12 months, I can safely say that blogging has enriched and enhanced my life in so many ways. I’ve made some fantastic friends, had the opportunity to collaborate with some of my favourite brands, and even started my career in beauty and marketing. These experiences would never have been possible without my website.
Back in July 2014, I had just graduated, and had big plans to enter the world of academia – I wanted to be an archivist and research Victorian material culture as a career. I’m aware this wouldn’t be the first thing you’d assume if you had just met me. I quickly realised in November that I had lost my passion for studying, and started to rethink my life goals. Fast forward to July 2015 and I’m blissfully happy in my new surroundings: working on my blog, heading up the marketing/brand engagement/social media side of Baby2Body, and actually having a social life. Starting Making It Up opened my eyes to the entire digital world, and it quickly dawned on me that I could be creative and follow my passions at the same time.
I never thought I would have reached the point where I have readers who keep coming back to the site, engaging with my skincare and makeup reviews, and telling me they bought x and y because of me. It genuinely makes my heart sing.
Thank you to each and every one of you for joining me on this pretty excellent journey. I thought it would just be my dad and a few friends checking in to see how I was getting on.
Here’s to the next year of blogging!
