29 June, 2015 June Favourites 2015
As I was in Italy for 10 days this month, it only really just hit me that a full 30 days have flown by. June was another great month, and as I’m a little tanned right now I’m loving a lightweight base, along with some deeper lip colours that bring out the more olive tones in my skin. I was going to say olive-r, but that sounds ridiculous. Keep scrolling for my seven beauty loves from the month of June!
It would be rude of me not to include some lip options in this June edition of my monthly favourites, and as I am nicely bronzed after a week or so of basking in the sunshine, I’ve been rocking some beautiful mauves and light berry shades for work and nights out. The NYX Creamy Round Lipstick in Thalia (£5.75 here) is a stunning dusky mauve-pink nude that’s creamy, comfortable and highly pigmented, and is a perfect match for my MAC lipliner in Dervish (swatch and review here). Bobbi Brown’s Tulle (£19.59 here) is a slightly more red-based nude with a gorgeous sheen that adds depth and volume to my pout. It’s one of those shades that looks a bit ‘meh’ in the bullet, but pops on deeper skin tones. Well worth the price!
I’m constantly raving about Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow (£49 here), but that’s because it’s so bloody fantastic. When I was abroad I used the ‘bronze’ shade to both contour and warm up my complexion, and it’s demi-matte finish gives a boost of radiance to the skin that looks fresh and elegant without any patches of glitter. The ‘glow’ shade is a fantastic champagne-based powder that works equally well as an eyeshadow base and inner-corner highlight. It’s very finely milled, and the colour is unmatched by any other drugstore or luxury highlight powder I own. Another powder product I’ve been loving this month is the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder in Vanilla (£8.99 here). This smoothing, mattifying powder does a fantastic job of blurring pores and absorbing excess oil, and I always have it in my handbag for midday touch ups. I’ve raved about it loads on the blog, and it’s definitely one of my all-time favourite powders for any skin type.
My skin is definitely feeling parched and dehydrated after so much sun-worship, and the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (£23 here) has been a lovely night-time treat to bring back some much needed moisture and nourishment. It smells delicious sinks in quickly, meaning I wake up with radiant, plump skin without a trace of flakiness.
Whilst I like my moisturising treatments to be rich and nourishing, I prefer the moisturiser I use under makeup to be a lot more lightweight. NUXE’s Aroma-Perfection Anti-Imperfection Care (£12.33 here) is a mattifying, hydrating base that doubles as a primer on light-coverage days, and does a great job of minimising my pores and reducing redness. It’s a great option if you suffer from oiliness and need a little prep work before your makeup, and it’s currently on sale over at Escentual – snap it up now!
My last monthly favourite is the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (£19 here). I typically prefer plastic brushes, but these natural bristles are densely packed to ensure fantastic volume, curl and intensity. I like to use this on corner lashes for a bit of a winged look, and it works really well with my HG Max Factor Masterpiece MAX applied underneath for a true false-lash flutter!
