Top Six: Holiday Beauty Essentials

18 June, 2015 Top Six: Holiday Beauty Essentials

I’m currently on holiday with my boyfriend in beautiful Italy, in a teeny village called Vietri Sul Mare on the Amalfi Coast. We’ve taken advantage of the incredible cuisine and have had our fair share of pasta, pizza and limoncello, but the one area I seem to be disciplined in is the skincare and haircare I brought along with me. This post is a short and sweet tour of my toiletry bag, and the six must-have items I’ve been reaching for every day. Enjoy!

Holiday Beauty Essentials

Nivea Micellar Water (£1.99 here): this lightweight, gentle micellar water has been a fantastic recent addition to my cleansing routine. It removes waterproof mascara with ease, and does a great job of getting rid of stubborn liner, foundation and heavy eyeshadow, as well as offering a refreshing boost after a day by the pool. It doesn’t sting, irritate my skin or eyes and it works just as well as Bioderma’s Sensibio – at a fraction of the price! For my full review, click here.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (£11.06 here): I’ve been gradually adding First Aid Beauty products to my stocks, and I’ve never been disappointed with the quality, efficacy or affordable prices. Mario Badescu and First Aid Beauty are two incredible skincare brands that offer incredible products that aren’t going to cost an arm and a leg – other brands should definitely take note! This creamy, rich cleanser dissolves makeup remnants and gives skin a thorough cleanse without leaving it feeling stripped or dry. It’s perfect for morning and evening, and cools my skin if I’ve been in the sun for too long!

Nourish Balance Refining Toning Mist (£25 here as part of the Balance trial set): I discovered Nourish a week or two ago after being recommended their Balance range by Lauren from Britton Loves, and I’m so glad they’re now on my radar. They are a totally organic, ethical and cruelty-free brand, and their ranges for various skin types and concerns offer fantastic value and gorgeous ingredients. I’ve worked with the brand in a professional capacity and their customer service and commitment to their values is wonderful to see. The Balance range smells lovely (apple is the main ingredient) and the Refining Toning Mist adds a much-needed boost of hydration by the pool or to calm my skin after a shower and a thorough cleanse. I’ll be stocking up on the full-size versions very soon!

Avene Skin Recovery Cream (£16.50 here): a tried and true favourite, this cream comes with me on every holiday I go on. The packaging has changed since I bought this tube (which you can see in the Boots link), but the product remains the same. This hydrating, nourishing and calming cream works better than any aftersun I’ve tried, and applies beautifully under makeup. It’s almost like a lighter version of Embryolisse’s Lait Creme Concentre. A must-have for dehydrated skin or complexions prone to sunburn.

GLAMGLOW Thirstymud (£49.99 here): if my skin is really unhappy after one two many cocktails or naps in the sunshine, I whack on this miracle worker. It smells of a piña colada (always a bonus) and is incredibly moisturising and hydration-boosting. This teeny size is perfect for travel and would make a great in-flight treatment if you’re flying somewhere far away (on a two-hour flight from Gatwick, it seemed a little excessive). The original size (listed above) isn’t cheap, so keep your eyes peeled for gift sets and promotions!

OGX Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner (£2.50 here and here): I’m currently addicted to OGX haircare. They deserve a lot more credit than they receive, and after trying at least four different ranges, I’ve not been disappointed once. The Coconut Water range is fantastic for normal-oily hair prone to dryness at the ends (which is what I normally use after a purple toner for my bleached roots), and the original Coconut range is great on holiday when my locks are more susceptible to damage. These travel sizes are brilliant and last a week or so – I’ve packed extras in case I run out!

PS: I’m so excited to end this post on an extremely happy note – my best friend Amy, who I’ve known since I was born, is engaged! Stay tuned for some upcoming bridal beauty posts and maybe even some pictures of her on the day – she’s going to make an absolutely stunning bride!
