05 June, 2015 #HappySkin With The Body Shop
I was super gutted to miss The Body Shop’s #HappySkin event two weeks ago due to some severe cold and flu symptoms, but the wonderful team were kind enough to offer some products to try out at home. Having a sparkly package bursting with skincare and bodycare will always cheer me up, so the thought was greatly appreciated!
The event looked fantastic (read Alina from Beauty With Charm’s review here), and I was super excited to get my hands on their new summer releases. If you’re an old school Making It Up follower, then you’ll know how much I adore The Body Shop (click here for my brand focus post), so you can imagine how much fun I had testing these goodies out!
The launch featured three separate collections: The Virgin Mojito range, The Honey Bronze tanning range additions, and the Vitamin C range additions. I’ll be posting my thoughts on the first two ranges soon, so keep your eyes peeled! Today however, is going to be devoted to two beautiful skincare products within the Vitamin C family – The Glow-Boosting Moisturiser* (£16 here) and the Instant Glow Enhancer* (£12 here).
Glow-Boosting Moisturiser: I’ve fallen in love with this hydrating cream and it’s gel-like texture and refreshing, zingy scent. The consistency is like a thicker Vitamin E Moisture Serum (my all-time HG treatment), and absorbs immediately. This would be fantastic for combination-oily skin types as it provides sufficient moisture without overloading the complexion with heavy, emollient ingredients. Just fresh, lightweight coverage and a great base for makeup, too. In terms of a comparison to another product I’ve tried from The Body Shop, it’s almost like a new and improved Vitamin E Moisture Sorbet – smooth rather than grainy, heavenly scented rather than cloying, and mattifying rather than shine inducing. A fantastic new addition to the range!
Instant Glow Enhancer: an apricot-hued primer that also imparts a healthy dose of nourishment, I’ve been turning to this lots when I need look more like a fully functioning human being than a caffeine-addicted walking corpse – sounds dramatic, totally true. The tint is a beige-peach rather than a stark orange, and brings with it a gorgeous healthy flush with zero shimmer (heavens rejoice). It’s similar to Maybelline’s Baby Skin Instant Fatigue Blur, as well as Sunday Riley’s Breathable Tinted Primer (review and comparison here), but with a more solid texture that feels velvety and demi-matte on the skin. It blurs over pores, smooths dry patches and preps the skin thoroughly. If you need a natural base to pair with some concealer, powder and mascara, this is the product for you!
