27 May, 2015 Nourish Skincare: Balanced, Beautiful Skin
We all know by now how much I adore skincare. Whenever there’s a new brand on the scene, I immediately write down what I fancy on my wishlist and snoop out reviews and articles on the launch – it’s like I’m waiting for someone to enable me! This time, I’m loving a great range for combination skin from Nourish Skincare, that aims to balance, tone, hydrate and soothe my skin.
Nourish is a vegan brand with a difference: their organic, Soil Association accredited products are incredibly gentle on the skin and even more so on the planet – they are completely animal-friendly and their products are all biodegradable, so you won’t be adding any nasties to your skin, or damaging your environment when it comes to throwing away a bottle (straight into the recycling of course).
Lauren from Britton Loves and Kate from gh0stparties had been raving recently about Nourish and their huge range of skincare products, and their enthusiasm for the brand was infectious: I immediately popped the Balance Starter Kit into my shopping basket, and placed an order with Feel Unique.
The set is super cute: four trial-size products that make a great gift, or a nice introduction to the brand. The Starter Kit comes with the Detoxifying Cleanser, the Refining Toning Mist, a dinky bottle of the Nutritious Peptide Serum, and the Essential Moisturiser. I was so impressed that they included a serum in the set, as most trial-size offers scrimp on products with more expensive ingredients and opt for a larger cleanser or (lord forbid) a granular scrub. No thanks!
The cleanser is lovely – milky, non-stripping, and easy to wash off. It did a good job of removing impurities, but I wouldn’t use it for makeup removal. As a second cleanse, I have nothing to complain about. The toner mist is another gem, as it’s incredibly hydrating without feeling tight or uncomfortable, and has a similar consistency to the Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic (which I absolutely adore). Lauren had mentioned the Balance Essential Moisturiser being quite nice for calming under-the-skin bumps which I haven’t noticed thus far, but I do think it does a great job as a base under my primer, as well as applied as a layer over my facial serums and oils in the evening. All three of these products smell slightly floral with a hint of apple, which I don’t mind, and possibly prefer to my rather pungent Mario Badescu, Pixi and Sarah Chapman products that I’m also reaching for on a daily basis.
The cleanser, toner and moisturiser are all great complexion boosters, but for me, the star of the show is the serum. This beautiful lightweight gel smooths on easily without any sticky sensation or tackiness, and it melts into the skin immediately. The result is a subtle glow that makes my skin look healthy, plump and refreshed, and acts as a glue for my moisturiser and primer, without leaving me an oily, shiny mess.
It doesn’t rival The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Serum just yet, but it is coming up as a close contender. I’ll be taking the serum and toner away with me on holiday in June, so once I’ve used up every last drop, I’ll be back on Feel Unique to purchase a full size!
