20 May, 2015 What’s New: Diptyque Tam Dao
Surprise! Another fragrance has magically appeared in my perfume collection. I’m fully aware that I reviewed two figgy fragrances in this blog post, but I couldn’t resist picking up a bottle of the heavenly Tam Dao Eau De Toilette on a recent trip to Space NK.
If you’re a regular shopper in Space NK, you’ll know how addictive the scent of that shop is. A mixture of heady florals and sultry musk, it’s distinctly a Diptyque-stocking store. I’ve always loved Diptyque fragrances, and their candles hold something of a cult status amongst Youtubers and bloggers, with their trademark flicker in the background of multiple hauls, reviews and swatch videos.
Tam Dao is a really special fragrance, and one I’ve coveted for years: it’s musky, woodsy and spicy, with a hint of leafy freshness that cuts through the intensity of the Oriental base. In terms of notes, there’s sandalwood, rosewood, cypress, ambergrise and myrtle. Whilst I don’t have a clue which is the most prominent, in the online perfume community (which I only recently discovered was an actual thing), people say sandalwood has the largest presence.
If you like warm, unisex scents that linger without making you feel sick (great way to sell a product, Jess) then Tam Dao is definitely one to add to your wishlist. It’s unique, unusual and always has people asking me what I’m wearing. Even though its an Eau de Toilette, it’s still pretty potent, so two or three spritzes on my pressure points is more than enough on me. Apart from the scent itself, the bottle is stunning, and I love having this on my dressing table. They’re fantastic for travel too, as the 50ml sizes fit in most regular makeup bags, although you wouldn’t want to smash the glass, so keep it wrapped in some cloth!
You can buy Diptyque’s Tam Dao Eau De Toilette here for £58.
