13 May, 2015 Top Six: Spring and Summer Lipsticks
Today’s post is a short and sweet review of six of my favourite ‘barely there’ lip shades for spring and summer. During the colder seasons of autumn and winter, I loved rocking a bold, dramatic lip, but now that the weather is warming up, I’m happily reaching for some slightly glossier, balmier lip picks that are easy to apply, and even easier to maintain throughout the day. They’re all perfect for popping into your handbag, and I wish I could carry all of them with me whilst on the go!
*A slight disclaimer on my super pale face and terrible lighting: it was 6:30pm yesterday evening, my camera battery was about to die, and I’m in desperate need of a tan.
MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Creme Cup – £15.50 here. A gorgeous milky pink. This drags slightly on the lips if they’re not fully exfoliated, so make sure you’re smackers are smooth and hydrated. An effortless shade that plumps and adds volume without looking too Barbie-esque.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Monte Carlo – £25 here. This is a beautiful red-tinged nude, with a hint of golden shimmer running through it. I prefer this when I’m tanned as an everyday shade or paired with a gold/bronze smokey eye.
NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brûlée – £7.69 here. A blogger favourite, this creamy, opaque nude-pink enhances the shape of your lips without any glitter or shimmer. The slightly brown tones make it super wearable and it lasts on my lips for around 4-6 hours, which is fantastic for such a nourishing, hydrating gloss!
Lipstick Queen Saint Lipstick in Pinky Nude – £20 here. Lipstick Queen offerings are always lightweight and buttery, but the Saint formula in Pinky Nude is especially wonderful. This semi-matte, balmy lipstick is a stunning ‘my lips but better’ shade and applies beautifully. One of my favourite all-time colours.
Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 01 Rose Shimmer – £18 here. The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors are true handbag staples: they’re glossy without being sticky, and they cover the natural shade of my lips with a sheer wash of rosy colour. I love this one for everyday looks, and 02 Apricot Shimmer is perfect if you’re more of a peachy-coral fan.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal – $22.50 here. I am fully aware a lot of these lippies look very similar, but there’s something about the Fresh Lip Treatment in Petal that stands out from the rest – it has a mauve undertone that brightens my smile, enhances the shape of my lips, and provides intense nourishment that glides onto the lips and stays on for around 4-7 hours. I couldn’t believe just how long this lasted on me when I first tried it, but it’s absolutely worth the splurge!
