27 April, 2015 What’s New: Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate
The drugstore is on a serious roll at the moment. I’m constantly finding new products to test and play with, and the affordable prices and insanely high-quality formulas have been quickly pushing my high-end favourites out of my MUJI drawers. Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup posted a picture on Twitter of this Maybelline cream eyeshadow all over her lids, and as soon as I saw it, I ran to my nearest Boots to pick it up.
The Maybelline Metallic Pomegranate Colour Tattoo is a seriously beautiful shade – intense pigmentation, gorgeous copper glitter running through it, and a serious wallop of cranberry/deep red goodness. It’s a great shade to wear as a base for a warm-toned smoky eye, or on it’s own for a shimmery pop of colour.
I like to wear this under a beige or flesh-toned primer – MAC’s Painterly Paint Pot is my current fave – and blend it out with The Body Shop’s Eyeshadow Blender Brush up to my crease, for a pretty gradient effect. You can leave it there for a wash of colour, or really pack it on with a few layers. A gorgeous way of adding more sheen and glamour is to dab a rosy/gold-toned shade (MAC’s Honey Lust is perfect) in the centre of the lid, for a dramatic evening look that catches the light and makes brown and green eyes twinkle.
The quality of this cream shadow is fantastic, and even more impressive considering it costs just under a fiver. I’ve got my eyes on the shades Pink Gold, On & On Bronze, and Vintage Plum for my next Boots haul!
