#nyLDNmeet and MooGoo Skincare

11 March, 2015 #nyLDNmeet and MooGoo Skincare

Yes, I know the #nyLDNmeet was in January, and yes, I know I’m seriously late with my blog post, but better late than never, right?

Lauren from Blonde Vision, Tamsyn from Peach Pow XO and Amy from Beauty Glamorous organised a brilliant afternoon at Bittersweet Soho, where we had our hair tousled and curled to perfection by the lovely guys at Fordham Soho, sipped on some fab drinks we made with our very own hands at a cocktail-making demo, and enjoyed an engaging and informative presentation from the ladies at MooGoo Skincare, who brought along their entire range for us to peruse, as well as a new makeup brand they’re launching, called Dusty Girls. They were so helpful with all of our questions and it was such a great experience to chat with a brand face-to-face!

I was so looking forward to catching up with some of my favourite bloggers Sam, Polly, Vix and Jasmin, and we didn’t stop laughing all day.

Vix had her Stella & Dot display with her – the brand itself is stunning but Vix is such a brilliant rep for the brand, as her style is seriously gorgeous! On the day I ordered the Union Square Scarf (£45 here) that has a lovely tangerine and navy pattern, and I can see myself getting good use out of it as we move into spring and summer. My boyfriend bought me the Rebel Pendant in Silver (£65 here) for Valentine’s Day, and I’ve worn it every day since! Here is her personal stylist page if you’d like to get in touch with her.

During the MooGoo Skincare presentation, a product that really caught my eye was the Oil Cleanser. The team offered to send us a product of our choice to review, which is incredibly generous given how many people were at the event. I’d been looking for a new cleanser for a while, so I was so happy to see this arrive in the mail a couple of weeks ago! MooGoo’s cleansing system is slightly different to your usual two-step process in that you use a specific oil (there are four oils tailored to dry, oily, combination and normal skin types) to remove the daily grime, dirt and makeup from your face, with the additional benefits of ‘drawing oils’ that purge your skin of sebum and blemish-causing bacteria.

To me, this is exactly what I want in a cleanser. Sometimes oils and balms feel like they’re not doing much besides adding some moisture and hydration, but because the Oil Cleanser contains oils proven to help tone and balance oily skin types, like lemon, geranium and juniper, you know it’s actively fighting blocked pores, dull skin and excess sebum as well as giving you a seriously deep clean. The Oil Cleanser for Oily Skin contains the highest percentage of ‘drawing’ oils, whilst the other options in the range are slightly more gentle and nourishing on the skin. I like to use this in the shower as the steam helps to further unblock pores, but this would also be a lovely option as part of an at-home facial.

My skin definitely looks brighter and feels more refined after trialling the cleanser for two weeks. It’s helped battle some hormonal breakouts and after using this in conjunction with The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Creamy Face Wash, I’m a lot more confident about my skin and how it looks, and I’m even wearing a little less makeup than usual.

MooGoo offer products for all skin types including for very young skin, so I definitely trust that their products won’t cause any reactions – I’ve already recommended the brand to mums with small kids and babies, as they do some great products including a Scalp Cream, a super-thick Nappy Rash Cream, and an even a cream for breast-feeding mums, the hilariously titled ‘Mudder Udder’ Balm. Their ethos is to help people love their skin with natural ingredients that are good for you without harming the environment, and it’s nice to see a natural brand offering genuinely effective products at reasonable prices.

You can buy the MooGoo Oil Cleanser for Oily Skin here for £16.90.

Have you tried any products from MooGoo? What do you think of the cleanser? I’d also love to know if you’ve been to any blogger meet-ups recently!
