Two Lipstick Bargains From Makeup Revolution

27 February, 2015 Two Lipstick Bargains From Makeup Revolution

Whilst I do enjoy splurging on luxury beauty products, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of finding a product that delivers on quality and efficacy, without an extortionate price-tag.

Two lipsticks that have really impressed me this month are from Makeup Revolution, a brand known for their brilliant dupes of high-end releases, as well as innovative formulas and super-cute packaging. One shade is from the Lip Hugs range, and the other is from their regular lipstick line. I loved their Lip Hugs so much that I bought six shades, and have a whole blog post dedicated to them here, and Saviour Will Come is probably one of the most beautiful burgundy-red shades in my collection. The One, from the regular lipstick line, is a gorgeous creamy mauve-nude, and is the perfect shade to pair either with a neutral, simple look, or a more dramatic smoky eye.

Lipsticks this cheap (£2.50 for the Lip Hugs and £1 for the regular lipsticks) encourage mass-purchasing, meaning you could pick up the entire regular line for £20. If you’re a beauty addict, their website can become quite addictive, and I’ve done three separate hauls since discovering Makeup Revolution in November!

Saviour Will Come is a sheer, glossy tint that nourishes the lips whilst delivering on pigmentation and coverage. One swipe will get you a glaze of colour, whilst two creates a gorgeous, opaque look that doesn’t bleed or settle into fine lines. If I want to intensify the colour, I’ll pair it with a deep red or purple liner, like MAC’s Burgundy lipliner. It’s a great wearable berry shade that looks lovely on all skin tones, and it doesn’t appear too pink on my lips, which can often make a shade less wearable or easy to pull off.

From the regular lipstick line is The One, a mauve-leaning nude that strikes just the right balance between a sheen and a matte. It feels feather-light on the lips but you can build up the coverage for a more polished look, and I also love wearing it on top of other lipsticks to create more fullness and dimension. If you’re on a tight budget and looking for a great nude lipstick, then The One is definitely an option for you. It’s lasting power is surprisingly long considering how lightweight it feels, and I find this lasts on my lips for 3-4 hours. If I’m talking a lot, eating or drinking, it’s more like 2-3 hours. For a great everyday nude, you won’t find cheaper than this, and the quality is pretty exceptional for the price.

You can buy the Lip Hug in Saviour Will Come here for £2.50, and the regular lipstick in The One here for £1.
