What’s New: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Waterproof Mascara

24 February, 2015 What’s New: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Waterproof Mascara

Mascara is usually the one product area I’m fairly loyal to – I have my everyday love, the Max Factor Masterpiece MAX (£9.99 here), and then my Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara (£2.96 here) for a more dramatic, ‘false lash’ effect. Recently I’ve been flirting with waterproof mascaras, as I find they’re the best for a seriously curly and separated look, and have finally settled on the wonderful Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Waterproof Mascara.

The brush on this mascara is INSANE – it packs on the volume and immediately creates a gorgeous curl, and with a few coats my lashes are separated, jet black and longer than most mascaras have been able to get them looking. The formula is quite thick and goopy at first so I like to wipe the brush of any excess with a tissue, although as the formula dries it will probably be a lot easier to maintain.

It’s a regular bristle brush rather than a plastic one (which I normally prefer), but because it’s so sturdy and dense you can create a beautiful dramatic look that doesn’t look clumpy or spidery. However, if you do prefer that ultra-fake look, a few more coats should get you there.

This is definitely a luxury purchase, and one I’d probably save for an all-day event or when I need my lashes to stay in place for a long period of time. It doesn’t smudge, flake or dry out on my lashes, and because it’s waterproof it feels a lot lighter on my lashes than traditional formulas.

You can buy Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Waterproof Mascara here for £23.

I’m really impressed with this gorgeous new purchase and am definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for new waterproof mascara launches in the future – do you have any to recommend? Let me know in the comments below!
