17 December, 2014 Birthday Beauty Bits
Get ready for a ridiculously large luxe beauty haul! For my birthday I was lucky enough to receive some gorgeous products I’d had on my wishlist for a while, including THAT Charlotte Tilbury contour palette, and a beautiful NARS lipstick in the ultimate winter berry shade.
I’m sure you all know about Charlotte Tilbury and NARS – they’re two fabulous brands that deliver on quality, efficacy and beautiful branding, and their Christmas launches in particular have been crazily popular.
The first product I’m going to talk about is the famous Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow. This is a beautiful powder duo with just enough sparkle and shimmer to make an impact on an evening out, with a cool-toned contour shade that looks natural and flattering without any muddiness or ashiness. I also love that the contour and highlight shades are the same size. In a pinch, the two shades work really well as eyeshadows, as the highlight looks lovely as a wash of colour all over the mobile eyelid, with the contour shade working as a lovely muted brown crease shade. Buy here for £49.99.
Next – the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl that my boyfriend kindly bought me. I spoke about the Matte Revolution lipstick in Very Victoria here, and absolutely love the formula, texture and longevity of the product. Whilst Very Victoria is a muted vintage mauve, Bond Girl is a deeper, plummier nude with a lovely berry undertone that looks gorgeous paired with a bronze smoky eye. These two are my new favourite every day shades and if you’re interested in the new lipstick launch, definitely check out these two beauties! Buy here for £23.
A product that has probably been on every beauty lover’s Christmas wishlist this year is the NARS Virtual Domination Blush Palette. This is a travel-friendly palette containing one bronzer shade (Laguna), three blush shades (Sex Fantasy, Final Cut and Deep Throat), and a shimmery champagne highlighter (Miss Liberty). My favourite blush shade is Sex Fantasy, a beautiful lilac that appears quite light and chalky in the pan, but translates as a beautiful, neutral pink that warms up the complexion without looking orange. My mum snapped up the last one in our local Space NK and I’m so glad she did! I’ll be taking this palette with me on my trip to Paris over New Years, as the bronzer, highlight and three blusher shades work really well in the evening and during the day, and the sturdy palette means it won’t crack or break during our travels. Buy here for £45.
Another lipstick I received from my boyfriend was the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte. I’ve reviewed and swatched this lipstick here in my Top Six: Red Lip Products post, and love how it’s so vampy and dramatic, but also wearable enough for any occasion. The Audacious lipstick formula is one of the best I’ve ever tried and I’ll definitely be picking up a few more soon! Buy here for £24.
Last up is a product I’ve been using every day since I received it, and it’s the NARS Contour Blush in Paloma. This palette consists of a deep mauve blush shade that works to perk up my cheeks and subtly carve out cheekbones, and a matte yellow-toned highlighter for the high points of my face. The fact that this palette is completely matte means it’s brilliant for daytime use, and the highlight shade doubles as a great eye base to amp up the pigmentation in my eyeshadows. Buy here for £30.
I’m so pleased with my birthday beauty bundle and I’m still testing out a few colour combinations, and I think it’s safe to say I’ll never have to buy a contour or bronzer shade every again! Keep your eyes peeled for these products in future posts as I’ll be including them in favourites and tutorials, and will go into a bit more detail and you’ll be able to see them swatched!
