Face Mask Friday #12

28 November, 2014 Face Mask Friday #12

Last weekend I took advantage of having some time away from work and studying, and indulged with a bubble bath and a face mask. My friend Kayla has been supplying with me some incredible gems from Space NK recently, and the product she gave me to relax and unwind with was the Elemental Herbology Facial Detox.

This product looks like your run-of-the-mill clay mask, but offers a unique combination of purification and hydration to keep skin smooth, clear and nourished. As well as Amazonian clay, this mask includes manuka honey, aloe and calendula to soothe skin, minimise redness and leave skin feeling less reactive and sore. The scent is floral, herb-y and refreshing, which definitely lifted my spirits on a cold, gloomy day.

After applying the mask all over my face and leaving for 10 minutes and removing with a hot muslin cloth, I noticed a slight reduction in the appearance of blackheads and other imperfections on my face. My skin felt clear and deeply cleansed, and my t-zone and other oily areas felt noticeably free from sebum and other nasties.

However, there were one or two small issues: I’m not a fan of when masks dry to such a hard texture you have to scrub your face to wash it off, and I don’t feel that my skin’s smoothness and texture dramatically improved either. I can see how over continuous use skin adapts to different types of products, and that I won’t notice such a quick reaction as I would like – however, masks like the REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial (read my review here) work to exfoliate, refine and brighten in 60 seconds, and results are almost always immediate.

The mask was a gorgeous gift from Kayla and I’ll be testing it out again (view my thoughts on Instagram next week), so keep your eyes peeled to see if my opinion changes!

Buy here for £28.

Love the sound of this mask, although I don’t like masks that dry that much either – they can be such a pain to get off

Hi Jess, haven’t tried that mask yet but it sounds amazing! Living so close to the sea my skin could be doing with some much needed nourishment and this looks the perfect treat 🙂 Karen x
