24 November, 2014 Long Term Beauty Loves
This post is all about the permanent products in my makeup and skincare collections, that I use time and time again. Most of the time I’ll have backups in case I ever run out, and I’ve mentioned these a lot throughout my blog archive. I thought this type of post would show you which products I think are foolproof and worth the money, and remain in my rotation regardless of my skin’s condition, or which makeup look I’m going for.
The first product is one I’ve mentioned on this blog too many times to count, and it’s The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Moisture Serum. It’s a beautiful, lightweight serum that’s absorbed immediately, and preps the skin for moisturizer, primer and foundation. I use this day and night and my makeup feels weird without this underneath. If you’re looking for an easy to use, no-fuss serum that protects and hydrates skin without any greasiness, then this is perfect! Buy here for £12.
When I decided to write this blog post, I found it so hard to choose the lipstick I use the most, and always reach for when I can’t think what to wear on my lips. I love MAC’s Modesty, Seventeen’s Beehive, and Dior’s Incognito, but for the perfect blend of brown and pink tones that can be worn everyday or to add balance to a more dramatic evening look, Bobbi Brown’s Lip Colour in Blondie Pink has to be my favourite. The creamy formula paired with brilliant pigmentation and sheer coverage makes this the perfect MLBB shade. This is another product that would suit all skin-tones, and despite the more luxe price tag, it’s definitely something I recommend splurging on. Buy here for £19.50.
Another skincare product I absolutely adore is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. This wonderful, creamy cleanser effectively removes makeup and lightly exfoliates the skin, leaving it baby soft and squeaky clean. I typically use this in the morning with a flannel, and sometimes as the second step in my cleansing routine to remove cleansing oil or Micellar water. The scent is gorgeous – eucalyptus, rosemary and chamomile – and makes early morning starts much more bearable. Buy here here for £24.75 for a 200ml bottle.
I like to shop around for cheaper alternatives to the majority of my beauty collection, but the one product I’m always faithful to is the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner. The colour is a deep, inky black, it doesn’t rub or fade, and the precise nib means you can get a super smooth line. I think the price is fantastic for such a high-quality product and one tube lasts me about 4-5 months, which in my eyes is excellent value for money! Buy here for £13.
A mascara that I’m always going on about – and LOVE – is Max Factor’s Masterpiece Max. This mascara is just incredible; it defines and separates lashes, imparts volume and length, and plumps them up so they’re curled and fluttery without looking fake or spidery. I have mentioned this in every blog post when I discuss mascara, but for a more detailed review, you can click here for my Top Six: Mascaras post. Buy here for £9.99.
Last up is MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Powder in Medium Plus. I’ve been using this powder since I was roughly 16 years old, and it was the first ‘proper’ makeup product I ever purchased. I love the sheer finish, creamy texture and the way it blends beautifully over foundation. You could wear this on it’s own with a little primer and concealer underneath, or to set a heavier base. It creates a matte, unified finish but still retains a natural ‘glowiness’ that looks like skin. I can’t say enough good things about this powder and think everyone could do with having this in their beauty arsenal. Buy here for £23.
