18 September, 2014 My Favourite Cream Shadow Sticks
The simplicity of cream shadow sticks really appeal to me – one swipe, a little blending, and you’re good to go. Last week I posted about easy brown and black liner (read here), but for some sparkle and extra detail to an everyday look, these three shadows are brilliant.
My favourite cream shadow stick for an instant glamour boost is the Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Dark Pearl. Her Colour Chameleon shadows are tailor-made for different eye colours, and the Dark Pearl shade (deep grey-silver) along with Amber Haze (a gorgeous warm gold) best suit brown eyes. As you can see in the picture, the cream shadow stick has a pointed nib, meaning you can get a really precise and accurate line. I like to apply this straight from the pencil on the upper lash line for a shimmery dose of colour that looks understated and seriously pretty. These retail at £19, and you can buy them on Charlotte’s website here as well as in Selfridges stores and online here.
Next up is the most recent edition to my collection, thanks to my lovely boyfriend – some girls prefer flowers, but makeup is always the way to my heart! I’d heard for ages that the By Terry Ombre Blackstar shadow sticks were brilliant, and on a trip to Space NK I felt it necessary to swatch them ALL on my hands and arms. Bronze Moon quickly became my favourite, so I took it home with us… and have been wearing it ever since! This is a beautiful creamy bronze with hints of copper and gold, and looks great both packed onto the lid straight from the teeny rounded bullet, or blended up to the crease using a fluffy brush. These shadows from By Terry are seriously pricey at £28, so maybe wait until there’s an offer or promotion. Buy here.
The last cream shadow stick is probably the most easy-to-wear shade. Clinique’s shadow tints in Chubby Stick form are perfect for when you’re in a rush but don’t want to leave your eyes bare. I own the shade Ample Amber, a really pretty and subtle champagne gold. Whilst the shadow isn’t as long-wearing as the Charlotte Tilbury and By Terry editions, the rather generous size makes for a quick swipe of even colour and you can always top up the intensity if you need to. I like to wear this just on the lid with some applied to the inner corner and below the lash line to brighten up my eyes. Fuller Fudge and Lots’ O Latte also look gorgeous as casual everyday shades! The Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tints retail for £17, and you can buy them here.
I love how easy and quick cream shadow sticks are, and definitely want to check out a few more – let me know in the comments if you have any recommendations! I’m always more than happy to read your thoughts and suggestions for the products I’ve mentioned too.
